Hello!
Hey there, welcome to my first blog post!
I'm Ailsa, a gyaru enthusiast from Scotland. I've been into gyaru for a little over 2 years now, which compared to some other people in the community, isn't a very long time! I got into gyaru through seeing it here and there, like Venus Angelic's "Ganguro" video, the MV for Get On Up by Sugimoto-Shimai and even in Phineas and Ferb's song Welcome to Tokyo (yeah, I know... embarassing). After a while, I decided to do some research, finding mostly old school ganguro and manba and (like many people I've heard) I first thought that the fashion was ridiculous and I didn't find it very pleasant to look at, but after a while it grew on me and what was dislike turned to a neutral opinion, which then turned to like, then love and then finally became an obsession.
Since then I've been wearing gyaru at every available opportunity, which can be pretty difficult as my favourite styles are super tanned and I'm pretty much as pasty as you can get. In order, my favourite styles have to be old school manba (from 2004), kigurumin, tsuyome manba, kuro gyaru, old school ganguro, bibinba, old school b-gal and old school kogal. I still do pale styles, occasionally dabbling in shiro gyaru and himekaji and I've put an agejo coord or two together before!
So what am I currently doing with my life? I'm just about to start a job as a nanny for a wonderful family, which is great because it's my dream job, but not so great as it means I can't go gyaru for work at all. And I can't have the long kuro gyaru-esque nails that I've always wanted if I can't take them back off for work on Monday! Still better than working in a nursery where you couldn't even dye your hair an unnatural colour!
Anyway, I think that's enough of an introduction for me! I hope you have a good day and continue to read my blog. I've got some interesting topics planned so stick around!
Lots of love!
